Medical personnel should remain highly focused during surgery and avoid any external distractions to prevent cross-infection by viruses. Automatic doors in operating rooms play an excellent role in protection and isolation. However, to ensure the long-term reliable operation of these automatic doors, it’s essential to perform regular daily maintenance. By doing so, certain issues can be detected and addressed promptly. So, how should we maintain automatic doors in operating rooms?

1. First, you should ensure thorough cleaning. Not only should the door leaf itself be cleaned, but you should also pay close attention to wiping away any residual moisture on the surface after cleaning is complete. This will prevent moisture from lingering and causing rust on the door body and its components. Additionally, keep the area around the automatic door in the operating room clean at all times, promptly removing accumulated dust and debris to avoid interfering with its sensing devices and preventing them from becoming unresponsive.

2 During use, the outer casing of the operating room automatic door tends to accumulate a significant amount of dust. To prevent malfunctions in the door’s operation when it is opened or closed, the outer casing should be cleaned regularly—preferably while the power is off—to ensure the safety of maintenance work.

3 Be careful not to allow heavy objects or sharp items to collide with and scratch the automatic doors in the operating room, as this could cause deformation of the door body, widen the gap between door leaves, and damage the protective layer on the surface, thereby continuously degrading the door’s operational performance.

4 The coordination among the various components of the operating room’s automatic doors is crucial. Therefore, it is essential to regularly maintain and inspect the guide rails and floor rollers, as well as to clean and lubricate them, in order to prevent potential malfunctions of the induction doors.

Hospitals have placed higher demands on the safety of automated doors in operating rooms. Not only are auxiliary safety measures—such as safety isolation devices—required, but proactive safety features are also essential, including proper specifications for the door’s dynamic characteristics. So, when installing automated doors in operating rooms, how can we ensure their safety and stability? Let’s take a closer look together below.

1. Choose a good product: Surgical room automatic doors are highly technologically advanced, and the reliability of their mechanical, automated, or intelligent components varies significantly, resulting in wide price differences. To ensure reliable operation with minimal malfunctions, durability, and safety, it is advisable to choose brand-name products from well-known manufacturers whenever possible. When installing the frame of a surgical room automatic door, make sure that the entire frame is level, vertical, sturdy, and tightly secured. The surface of the installation track should be smooth and free of burrs.

2: Installation of the surgical room door lintel: The installation of the upper beam on the electric door in the operating room is a critical step in the installation process. The enclosure housing mechanical and electrical control devices is fixed onto this beam; therefore, the beam itself, as well as its connection to the wall opening, must possess sufficient strength, rigidity, and stability. If the preliminary construction drawings do not provide adequate design details, it will be necessary to contact the designers during the construction of the main structure to clarify and finalize these requirements.

3. Installation of grooves and tracks: For surgical room induction doors equipped with guided lower tracks, it is advisable to establish precise leveling and marking lines during floor construction. Additionally, accurately embed wooden blocks at the positions corresponding to the automatic door’s lower tracks, ensuring that the length of these wooden blocks exceeds the width of the opening door. 2 Moreover, the method of cutting grooves afterward is not advisable, as it could compromise the quality of the groove and the aesthetic appearance at the junction between the bottom rail and the floor.
